Enhancing 6th Sense- Part 1: Smell

We all are aware of our 5 senses but we hardly take notice of them. There comes a time when one starts to read and wonder about the Sixth sense, the seventh sense, eight sense and so on...
So he/she starts the practice for developing their Sixth , seventh, eight senses, without realizing the potential and importance of the awareness of 'The 5 senses'.

To be able to develop one's higher sensory perceptions, one needs to do some groundwork.

This groundwork is to become aware of your Five senses which are:

  • Smell
  • Hear
  • Taste
  • See
  • Touch

Let us start with the smell. Here is the small exercise to be increase our Olfactory functions:

  • Become aware of all that you can smell. They very act of smelling. Immerse in the olfactory sense.
  • Note down the list of all that you can smell.
  • Do this exercise starting from 5 minutes and increasing it comfortably for atleast 1/2 hour.
  • Feel the smell where you are
  • Feel you body odour
  • Smell the fragrance of the garden, the alley you walk, the vehicle you travel.
  • Become aware of the smell in your office, home, kitchen.
  • Be aware of the smell of earth, air, mountains, water, damp soil just after it has rained.
  • Before having the food, notice the smell of the ripe cheese, strawberries, bread and other food kept on the table, in front of you.
  • Be aware of the the smell of different type of clothes.
  • After few more days play this game of keeping various things in front of you, blindfold yourself and smell those things without touching them. Identify how many things you were able to smell correctly.

Do it everyday for some days , maybe a week to a month. You will realize that your olfactory powers have increased tremendously.
